There are 5.6 million people in South Africa, who do not have appropriate place for living. Although, since 1996 already 1.4 million housing units and houses were constructed, there is still requirement for ca.  2.2 Million further houses. The youth sector forms a large part of South Africa's current population and the largest part of South Africa's unemployed population (70%). Their future is especially bad:  One-third of all youth live in poverty with the highest rates of the poor and ultra-poor found in the 18 to 24 year-old age bracket. 

Habitat for Humanity South Africa works together with communities, partner organizations and families in order to help indigent person sustainably and permanently.

„National Youth Build 2010” in Western Cape/Cape Town
During the first "National Youth Build" in June 2010, 45 new houses for 45 families are constructed with about 230 members of the family in the provinces Gauteng, Western Cape and Kwazulu Natal.

Per day, 900 youthful volunteers are going to work on the construction sites.  The selection of the families takes place at the same time via the HFH South Africa program.  With the families are living youths, who are volunteering on the construction programs.

15 indigent families from Western Cape with more than 40 children are going to be secured by constructing steady and dignified houses. Hetzner Online AG supports the Western Cape and alone 10 from 15 planned houses can be built. Therefore the Hetzner Online AG established two-thirds of the financial means for "National Youth Build" in Western Cape.

Youths from different social shifts and with different developments take part at this building project. In general, Townships or Elendsviertel are zones unsteady and highly violent and should be avoided if possible.  The exchange between different social shifts should promote the understanding for life in Townships and offer an insight into the everyday-life. This leads to a reinforced sensitization of the difficult rations in the region.

Thanks to the project "Youth Build 2010" many youth will gather first work experience, engage themselves socially and receive in addition telescopes of the continued education.

Both unemployed youth and youth out of schools and universities are encouraged to give assistance to the community and to a great extend to the poor and unprotected people.
